The Center for Economic Research of Shandong University held a welcome meeting for new overseas students on October 18, 2019. Shaoan Huang，The Dean of the Center for Economic Research, Tao Sun，the Associate Dean of the Center, Office secretary and all freshmen attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Huang expressed his welcome to all students on behalf of the college and let students to introduce themselves. During the meeting, overseas students expressed their great anticipation for the courses and research contents they would learn, but also felt that they might have difficulties in learning. Professor Huang pointed out that the college attaches great importance to the study of basic theories, for example the advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. The specific direction of the research and the thesis will be based on the specific situation of each student, and their respective supervisors will further discuss with them in detail. At the same time, The Dean also said that overseas students are encouraged to study Chinese and to learn some content that they are interested in, and even go to other colleges to learn according to their own interests. If there are any difficulties in the learning process, they can ask any teachers and classmates for help.

At the end of the meeting, the Dean also stressed that all students must study hard. He hoped that overseas students could strictly demand themselves with higher standards and devote more enthusiasm to study and research.
