Recently, Professor Weiguo Zhang from Center for Economics Research at Shandong University has been invited to write a book review on The Economics of Language Policy for the journal Language Policy. The article is online first now (http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10993-017-9442-6).

The Economics of Language Policy is edited by Michele Gazzola & Bengt-Arne Wickström and published by MIT Press in 2016. It covers a variety of language-related topics including LPP issues, linguistic diversity, language skills and earnings, globalization and language dynamics, as well as trade and mobility, which “provides useful insights resulting from the application of economic theory and methodology to the study of language in society”.

Language Policy contributes to the growth of the field by publishing high-quality studies that help build a sound theoretical understanding of the subject area and is the first journal to combine language policy and language education policy.
